Max Burton 6000 Portable Induction Cooktop Review

Amazing! Dropped my energy bill ~$10/month! The Max Burton 6000 induction cooktop was my first introduction into induction cooking. I purchased this cooktop and bought some new cookware from Goodwill (make sure you get/have magnetic cookware, just check with a refrigerator magnet!) and I started cooking everything with this guy. The induction burner cooks far faster than any cooktop I have ever used. I typically keep the power level around 2 or 3 when frying, and 4 or 5 when boiling (power level out of 10), and it still cooks faster than anything! I have tried using higher levels, and especially when frying, my food seems to burn if I turn away for five seconds, e.g. tending to the oven. Even so, this device uses far less energy than my electric stove did.

After purchasing this product, my monthly electric bill went from about $30 to about $20! At first I thought the drop was because I had been spending more time out of the house during the first month I owned the product. However, my second month's bill was just the same! If the drop is fully attributable to the device (I cannot think of anything else it would be attributable to), then this device more than pays for itself in one year! That's an outstanding investment.

My only concern is that when frying, the box recommends using extra oil (which I must agree with). However, with the extra oil, it sometimes splatters (ouch!). I have tried using less oil, though, and typically the pan gets too hot without it. Just be careful! This concern, however, is highly highly overshadowed by the pros of this device!

Lastly, this device works great for keeping foods warm. Just set the power to 1 and you're all set!
